Thyroid Centre at Klinikum Dritter Orden

Successful treatment of thyroid disease has been provided at Klinikum Dritter Orden for more than 100 years. Approximately 100,000 thyroid operations have been performed at our facility since 1912. Our many years of experience and high levels of expertise are reflected in our recognition as a Centre of Excellence for Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery – a certificate issued by the German Society of General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV) attesting that we provide surgical procedures at an advanced level and meet all the requisite standards for high-quality modern surgery.

Experienced surgeons, endocrinologists, nuclear medicine experts, pathologists and other specialists work closely together at the Thyroid Centre at Klinikum Dritter Orden under the leadership of senior consultant and head of department Dr. Detlef Krenz to provide the form of treatment best suited to meet the needs of each individual patient. With more than 1000 cases per year, thyroid operations are the most common surgical intervention at our hospital. Few centres in Germany meet or exceed that number.
